Weathering can have a severe effect on the way things look over a long period of time. Just look at these celebrities. All the help and money in the world, and there is nothing anyone can do about the effects of the environment on these guys. Maybe it’s not the environment, entirely. It could just be bad plastic surgery.
In any case, weathering can change things drastically in a very short amount of time, or it might take 20 years for something to show the effects. The point is, your home is one of those things that is going to show age much faster than a mountain range is.
If you leave your front yard unattended and let the weeds and wilderness get to it, it’s going to look like something out of an episode of an apocalyptic show. You don’t want your home to look like it belongs in an apocalyptic world. It won’t bode well for you. Here are ways to bring color and new life to the outside of your home:
Paint with the Colors of the Wind
Pocahontas knew best. The colors of the world are meant to be enjoyed and painted with. Quite literally. If your house needs a facelift, start with a little-or a lot of paint. The color is your choice, but take the princesses advice and stick to more earthy colors. There is nothing worse than driving down the street and seeing a home that is fluorescent pink.
If you like bright colors, you can always use them as accents on shutters or flower boxes, or better yet, inside your house. You want to choose colors that go with the environment around them. It’s much more soothing to the psyche for things to flow rather than to get caught up on the house that has a putrid 70’s green door.
Plant Beautiful Things
Maybe your home is currently decorated by some dead bushes and trees that haven’t been pruned in ages. If this is the case, that’s a problem, an eyesore, and a fire hazard. Do yourself a favor and either hire someone to rip up those dead roots, or do it yourself and get the exercise.
In place of the dead plants, plant new, beautiful things instead. Plant things that blossom with stunning color. Plant things that are easy to take care of. Most of all, plant things that you like to look at.
Landscape plays a large part in the appearance of a yard. It’s like a woman. She might have a beautiful inside, but if her landscaping lacks the proper pruning and doctoring up, nobody will ever see the the inside for what it is because they’re too busy judging a book by it’s cover.
