The worm that started wreaking havoc on Twitter last Saturday continues its attack. Already on its fourth attack, the new variation of the XSS continues to compromise Twitter accounts and post malicious tweets on Twitter users updates.It all started last Saturday, around 2am, the Twitter Blog reports that 4 new accounts were created and started spreading the worm, victimizing around 90 Twitter accounts. The Twitter security team have secured these accounts by 11AM.
The worm attacked again later in the afternoon, compromising around 100 accounts which the Twitter team was able to contain and secure immediately.
Then come Sunday morning, just when everybody are having a nice Easter Sunday, the worm attack again but the Twitter team was able to quickly secure the compromised accounts. By this time, news broke out the the culprit was already identified as a 17-year old from Brooklyn named Mickeyy Mooney. Well, actually he was not caught but he admitted that he was the one who created the worm and he did it out of boredom and he wants to make some money.
Just when everybody taught the Mickeyy would stop what he’s doing, another round of attack was discovered.
As we awaits official announcement on these new attacks, whether how many Tweets were affected, it would be wise to take extra precautions when opening your Twitter account.
