Don’t look now everyone, but as Twitter’s membership, eyeballs, pageviews and other valuable stats continues to grow, it’s many facets continue to evolve. For instance, IZEA well known for they pay-per-post take on blogging has just launched SponsoredTweets – a pay per tweet service. SponsoredTweets takes similar approach to IZEA’s pay per post blogging service, that is pay Twitter members for promoting sponsored conversations on Twitter. So, it’s kind of like the more you tweet, the more you get paid kind of schemed. Is this good? I’m afraid I would to say not.
Currently, we are already bombarded by unwanted followers brought about by automatic Twitter following bots. We certainly don’t want to add some more annoyances in our Twitter account with paid tweets, right?
But for those who don’t take Twitter as a serious form of communication and are just using Twitter for the sake of getting into the bandwagon, well IZEA’s SponsoredTweets could add purpose to their Twitter activities.
This is just one example of how Twitter is evolving into a business platform. If it doesn’t suite your taste, there are actually some other ways including Jetblue and United airways use of Twitter for promoting their discounted airfare to their customers who follow them on Twitter.
Even NASDAQ is using Twitter, this time for Tweeting stock quotes. If you want a faster way of monitoring stock movements, simply follow @datajunkies and it will automatically follow you back. You will then receive DMs containing stock information.
Do you of any other ways by which Twitter is being used aside from sending 140 character updates and links? Feel free to share it with us by leaving a comment below.
