I don’t know about you, but LivingSocial – and all those other deal sites – have become a part of my life. I have drastically cut my spending, though, as I realized that I would save more money by simply NOT buying anything at all. Deal or no deal.
While I am sure that I am not alone in thinking this way, these daily deal sites are still popular. And among these sites, LivingSocial is one of the most trusted brands. The group does not seem to be interested in merely sitting on its laurels, as can be surmised from their latest move: entering the food delivery market.
LivingSocial has just announced its newest service: Takeout & Delivery.
Takeout & Delivery is actually a replacement for LivingSocial’s “instant” service, which featured discounts in real-time. It is being launched today in 26 areas in the United States. Major locations where Takeout & Delivery will be available starting today include Atlanta, Chicago, Boston, and San Francisco. For sure, the other major areas which will not have the service initially will enjoy it soon enough.
The idea behind Takeout & Delivery is nothing new, but it definitely will widen the reach of the deals site. Using the portal, customers in the specified areas will be able to order food online from participating restaurants. Customers will have the option of having the food delivered or picking it up themselves. The only thing is that while the web site does offer a lot of convenience, customers are still limited by the services being offered by specific restaurants. So if you’re craving for pancakes and the participating restaurants in your area do not deliver, you will have to pick the food up yourself.
So what do you think? Will this new service take off? Will you use Takeout & Delivery if it is available in your city? I know my answer to that!
