Whether they admit it or not, there is an underlying rivalry between Facebook and Twitter. Both are gaining followers and increasing their site eyeballs daily. Also, both are silently competing in the real-time search arena. So it is but surprising to know that Facebook would encourage its users to use Twitter by letting them share Facebook Pages’ updates as Tweets.According to the Facebook blog, sharing Facebook updates on Twitter is one of the most requested features of Facebook members. Hence, they are heeding these requests, although for updates of their Facebook Pages only, for now.
With the new feature, publishing of Facebook Pages Updates will be a one-time setup only. Meaning, once activated, Pages updates will be automatically shared to Twitter as Tweets., unless the owners will deactivate the feature. Remember this new feature is good for Facebook Pages only and not for Facebook Profiles.
In addition, if you manage a Facebook Page, you will be able to control what type of updates you want to share on Twitter – that is links, photos, notes, events and even all of them at the same time.
So, what do you think? Will you publish your Facebook Pages updates on Twitter? Will you activate this sharing feature on your Facebook Pages?
Of course if you’re both a social media practitioner who is using both Facebook and Twitter to gain online presence, it becomes moot and academic. You would definitely want to activate this feature.
But wait, would Twitter allow this feature?
