Now aren’t you just envious of them Japanese? Waterproof phones are not a new concept. In fact, people have been thinking of ways to make sure that our favorite devices are kept safe from the harmful effects of water. Remember Liquipel? That technology is meant for existing mobile phones that are not inherently waterproof, though.
This time, Japanese mobile phone manufacturers are stepping things up a notch. They are making mobile phones which are designed to be waterproof and dust-proof. ((Source: PhysOrg))
This step is surely understandable. They say that Japanese women love their phones to death that they even use them in the shower. Now I do not know anyone who does this, but that could be due to the fact that I do not know many Japanese women OR I do not know people who have waterproof phones. More so, who knows if this is only limited to women from Japan?
Anyhow, big names such as Panasonic and Fujitsu are making waves with their new waterproof phones. According to a Panasonic executive, it really is common in Japan to have waterproof phones. He goes as far as to say that you CANNOT sell a phone if it is not waterproof! Wow!
At the Mobile World Congress, the manufacturers are showing off their products in an attempt to catch the interest of markets outside of their home country. If you think about it, even if you do not have the propensity to use your mobile phone in the shower, a waterproof phone will certainly come in handy. For one, you will not have to worry about tipsy nights and being thrown into the pool with your mobile phone in your pocket. On a more practical note, you do not have to worry about a little rain or moisture ruining your favorite phone.
