With the release of the 2nd trailer to Hideo Kojima’s Death Stranding, you’d think we’d all have a better understanding of the game. But not even Mads Mikkelsen, star of Doctor Strange and Hannibal and the newest addition to the project, can say with any certainty what Kojima is planning. It seems like everyone’s in the dark about the upcoming PS4 game. All we know is that it looks amazing.
The newest peek at Death Stranding builds on the creepy aesthetics of the first one. For the last few people on Earth who haven’t seen it yet, you can expect more unexplained dolls and weird oil. There are only two things missing: one is a naked Norman Reedus, which may be a blessing or a curse depending on your perspective, and another is any clue as to what the hell is going on. In fact, the additions of the baby-carrying Guillermo Del Toro and the militarized Mikkelsen only serve to confuse us even more. But in a good way.
Kojima knows what he’s doing. By leaving us all in the dark, he’s built an irresistible mystique around the game. There has been some mention of how the term strand in psychology is used to refer to ties. Building on this point, Kojima mentions how ropes have been used simultaneously as a way to reject those that mean you harm and to bring those that you love closer. This could explain why there are those mysterious umbilical cords connecting Reedus and his clone baby. Or not at all.
5 Games To Make You More Creative and Effective at Work
Until we get to play the game for ourselves, there’s no way of knowing whether or not Kojima’s a genius or a freak. The exact release date is still up in the air, but whether it’s set for 2017’s E3 or sometime later, we guarantee it’ll sell out. Just in case we end up having to wait years for Death Stranding¸ you’ll want to make sure your PS4 is up to job by outfitting it with the best PS4 skins online. The vinyl covering of PlayStation 4 skins save the controller and system from cosmetic damages, spills, and grime build up. They also happen to come in cool textures and colors, which will take the sting out of waiting so long for the game.
We jest, but you can never know. A game of this magnitude is going to take some time to produce, especially with this many A-list celebrities involved. If the latest trailers are anything to go by, it’ll be well worth the wait. Until then, we’ll just have to be content on marvelling on just how weird it could be.
